Training Philosophies

The Intentional Approach

Here at In-Tension our programming is very Intentional. It’s a calculated (start with the end in mind) approach using effective methods to build comprehensive programs. Our pillars of success are to enhance health and performance and empower people to achieve their goals. This means that the focus of our training starts with your athletic foundation. Just as a building is built strong with a strong base we as athletes and people also need to build a strong foundation so the heights are limitless. How we do it…

Athletes:

☆ Strong foundation for tall Peaks

☆ Accounts for mobility, stability and prehab

☆ Aim to improve ALL the qualities that will lead to success in competition

All of which will put our athletes in the best possible position when they are facing opportunities and adversity. We believe for our athletes that the best ability is availability.

Wellness-Focused Individual:

☆ Strong focus on Movement preparation

☆ History into current and past injuries or issues

☆Pain management

☆ Sustainable challenges to avoid burnout

☆ Improve all aspects of health and well being while also working towards a specific goal

Our Goals for you…

☆ Look good

☆ Feel Good

☆Move WELL

The Mission that we have at In-Tension training is too empower people of all ages and goals through affordable training so you can achieve what they believe is possible. This has not changed and with hundreds of clients from the ages of 12-50+ we see that this feat is possible for everyone that works with us because of our Intentional Approach to training.

Sport Specific Training that Translates

Everything that we do and program with our training has a purpose and a meaning behind it. We believe that movement is medicine and that athletes should have a lot more abilities athletically than just what can translate to their sport because for athletes the best ability is availability. A big focus that we have with our training is implementing speed, agility and change of direction work that will translate to the field, court or ice. We pair with this the strength and movement systems that each athlete needs specific for their sport.

☆ Acceleration/ Top Speed Sprinting work

☆Speed Endurance

☆ Multidirectional Change of direction/agility

☆Unilateral Force Production

☆ Vertical Force Production

☆ Conditioning to get you to the finish line!

Not All Athletes Are The Same in the Weight-Room

Each sport is different and beautiful in its own way and we honor that by analyzing the sport, the athlete and the situation to create specific programs that support the desired outcomes.

At a certain point the same program does not work for each sport and each individual athlete.

We also believe in keeping the main thing the main thing, which means that your workouts should work in harmony with your practices, skills sessions and games, not take away from them.

☆Football: Strength, Power, Armour

☆Baseball: Maximum Force Production, Rotational Power, Speed

☆Basketball: Lateral Movement, Vertical Power, Core Strength and Stability

☆Hockey: Strength and Power, Resilience, Reducing Risk of Injury

☆Soccer: Speed and Agility, Speed Endurance, Conditioning

☆Track: Acceleration and Top Speed, Horizontal and Vertical Force Production, Core Stability

Prehabilitation is important for all athletes and incorporates that into our programs in order to reduce change of injury and manage pain during competition.

Everyone Needs Training

At In-Tension, we believe that training isn’t just for athletes or competitors — it’s for anyone who values their health, mobility, and confidence. While performance goals are important for some, many of our clients train to feel strong, capable, and energized in their daily lives.
